About the Artist
Bio
Growing up in Santa Fe, where she often explored the museums and galleries, Jill was drawn to the evocative figurative art of Nicolai Fechin and Robert Henri, as well as the majestic mountain scenery of Wilson Hurley. Beginning in her teens, she attended life drawing classes, and in time, studied with several outstanding current day figure painters whose realist style and impressionist influence resonated with her own approach. Working mainly in oil, she has also used acrylic and pastel.
Relocating to Colorado, she has been actively involved in outdoor activities, and has found that her love of nature and botanical subjects has found its way into her art. Working with several instructors at Art Students League of Denver, as well as other skilled mentors, she has continued to develop her skills while teaching French and working as a registered nurse specializing in pediatrics. She is currently retired and happy to be devoting more time to art, working in oils, pastel, and watercolor.
Jill has work in several private collections in the United States and Canada, and has shown work with the Pastel Society of Colorado. She has also sold paintings by invitation at the Swedish Festival at Lindsborg, Kansas which occurs every other year. She has shown work at the Framed Image Gallery in Denver, CO.
